Medical Care & Counceling Center

The L.P.S. Medical, Guidance and Counseling Center has a health promotion program based on early screening and prevention of childhood diseases.  This center is sponsored by a family doctor, a counselor, and a registered nurse.  The school counselor and the school nurse work together for the physical and emotional well being of students; they discuss several pertinent health topics in junior and senior seminars.  Special “Health Education Programs” are introduced to students during classes.

The school counselor assists students with personal, family, and educational problems.  He helps students understand and deal with social, behavioral, and personal problems.  The counselor emphasizes preventive and developmental counseling to provide students with the life skills needed to deal with problems before they occur and to enhance students’ personal, social, and academic growth.  The counselor interacts with students individually, in small groups, or with entire classes.  He consults and collaborates  with parents, teachers, and school administrators in order to develop and implement strategies to help students be successful in the education system.
The school counselor also observes younger children during classroom and play activities and confers with their teachers and parents to evaluate the children’s problems or special needs.  In conjunction with teachers and administrators, he makes sure that the curriculum addresses both the academic and the emotional development needs of students.  The counselor tries to identify cases of domestic abuse and other family problems that can affect a student’s development.

Infirmary
A central infirmary is available for students who might get sick during the school day.  A full time nurse is on demand for students with health needs.  A doctor is on call for any medical need, and is also present in school twice a week.
On daily basis, the L.P.S. infirmary provides various medical services and preventive measures.  Excluding fractures and dangerous wounds, the infirmary handles different emergencies arising.
It holds health records for each student and sets a medical check up every year.
